Working Bees
Sunday, 20th January, 9:30 am to 12:30 pm - Two groups will be operating, select your favorite between Pigott Street and Waratah Mills. Wednesday working bees at Johnson Park - (1st & 3rd Wednesdays in the month) for January they are on the 2nd and 16th - Meet at Sideways Cafe at 9:00 am for coffee. Are you free on Friday mornings? We have a fortnightly working bee (second and fourth Friday) at Pigott Street. 9:00am - 11:00pm. Meet on site. If you are interested then mark it in your diary - please confirm with Jo before coming. Welcome to IWEG
The Inner West Environment Group (IWEG) is a volunteer bushcare group that establishes and maintains sites along a corridor that links the Cooks River and Iron Cove through the inner western Sydney suburbs of Hurlstone Park, Dulwich Hill, Lewisham, Summer Hill, Haberfield and Leichhardt.
The group has established four sites along the rail corridor at Dulwich Hill – at the ends of Davis, Pigott and Little streets and beside the Waratah Mills apartment block. Waratah Mills recently was split and Johnson Park was created. IWEG were instrumental in the creation of sites at Cadigal Reserve, Summer Hill; Lords Rd, Leichhardt; and Richard Murden Reserve, Haberfield. Cadigal Reserve and Richard Murden Reserve are now maintained by Greenway Bushcare. Anybody who wants to connect with nature, their local community and other people is welcome to join us. Important Notice
From July 2017, the Inner West Council will be coordinating the working bees at Johnson Park, Pigott St and Waratah Mills. IWEG is working with Council on all the details of that handover after they have nursed these sites for more than 10 years. The Greenway
The GreenWay is an urban green corridor in Sydney's Inner West. It is a bush corridor and a hub for community arts and groups, bushcare, walking and cycling. IWEG sites are located along the GreenWay.
